Share an Interest
Because Lyuda and I are so invested in nutrition and fitness, it seems like we always have so much to talk about. No matter where we are or what we're doing, there's always something to discuss related to food, fitness, or health.
When your significant other shares the same interests as you, it's always a plus. The way I see it, there are two necessities for a romantic relationship to succeed: (1) extreme physical attraction and (2) a like-minded perspective and lifestyle. We're lucky to have these in ours -- and I would like to discuss (2) a bit more in this post.
Lyuda and I are on the same page when it comes to our lifestyle mentality -- our energies are allocated similarly on a day-to-day basis. After we've taken care of our daily work responsibilities, we then turn to the nutrition, fitness, and health aspects of our lives. In many ways, these components require the same -- if not more -- effort as the other commitments, and pursuing these routines is a lot like a full time job in its own right. For example, we always have to make sure that we have healthy food on hand when it's meal time -- and we need to be certain that enough time is set aside in the day for exercise.
When those close to you are following the same lifestyle, your life is impacted for the better. Not only do you get positive affirmation for your pursuits, but having someone alongside you motivates you to complete your daily regimens fully. This is a lot like being on a sports team or working within a group of highly motivated students or colleagues.
Lyuda and I are lucky to have each other -- and we're even more fortunate to share the same interests. Aim to find like-minded people -- whether it's a friend or a girlfriend -- and surround yourself with them. Doing so will help you accomplish your goals and pursue what you love.
